Mob movie posters
The original poster for the 1955 movie, Las Vegas Shakedown, is now part of the Museum’s collection. In this film, Dennis O’Keefe stars as a casino owner menaced by mobsters. Not well reviewed, the movie is best remembered for its vivid cinematography featuring the casinos, nightclubs and streetscapes of Las Vegas in the mid-1950s.
Other posters in our collection:
The original poster for the 1952 movie starring John Forsythe and Joan Camden. Two aspects of this film make it particularly apt for our Museum—Senator Estes Kefauver, who held one of the 1950s Kefauver hearings on organized crime in our courtroom, provided an epilogue to the film and it was filmed entirely in Reno. Forsythe plays a small-town newspaperman whose investigation into a local bookie operation exposes an organized crime network.
An Italian-language poster for The Godfather signed by actors Al Pacino, Talia Shire, James Caan, Diane Keaton and Robert Duvall and director Francis Ford Coppola. Currently on loan to the Museum.
These items are part of the Museum’s rotating collection not currently on display.
