Virtual Summer Camp

Calling all sleuths and science lovers, now’s your chance to put your detective skills to the test. Explore the exciting work of police officers, crime scene investigators and forensic scientists with this hands-on and immersive virtual summer camp series. You’ll join campers from around the country for interactive, live-instruction lessons all aimed at increasing your skills in a fun and engaging atmosphere. This is not your typical game of cops and robbers. Each summer camp includes 20 hours of fun and educational activities. Each participant is sent an activity kit with the supplies needed for their camp experience.

$150 per participant. $125 per participant for Museum Members. 15% discount automatically applied for multiple camps purchased.

Operation Investigation I

Recommended for students entering 4th-7th grade. Ages 10-12
June 14–18, 2021
Available at 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. PDT

Do you have what it takes to be a crime scene investigator and take down criminals? Start your exploration by learning how to build a case through collecting evidence, examining fingerprints, finding trace evidence, analyzing blood spatter and interrogating witnesses—all from the comfort of your home. 

This virtual summer camp is an extension of our Crime Lab exhibit, and will provide hands-on fun for 20 hours. Each participant will receive an activity kit equipped with all of the supplies needed, including pocket microscope, hand lens, instructions for making fake blood, materials needed to record and dust for fingerprints and much more. You’ll be one step closer to earning your badge, partner.

Operation Investigation II

Recommended for students entering 4th-7th grade. Ages 10-12
July 12–16, 2021
Available in two sessions: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. PDT

Crime scene investigation is serious work. But it is so exciting to use the clues and evidence left behind to uncover who committed the crime. 

Sharpen your investigative skills with more challenging activities focused on collecting and examining various forms of evidence. You’ll investigate a death while gaining a strong understanding about what it takes for law enforcement to bring down criminals. 

This 20-hour virtual camp comes with an activity kit equipped with all the supplies needed for the experience, including pocket microscope, hand lens, recipe for fake blood, fingerprinting materials and more.

Operation Forensic Science I

Recommended for students entering 8th-10th grade. Ages 13-15
June 21–25, 2021
Available at 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. PDT

Wonder if you have what it takes to catch a criminal? A chalk outline is just the beginning. Explore the ins and outs of the forensic science field through crime scene investigation, analyzing the cause of death, fingerprint identification, firearm and bullet examination and DNA analysis. Plan for 20 hours of hands-on fun and educational activities all tailored to honing forensic science skills. 

All campers will receive an activity kit equipped with the tools you need, including pocket microscope, hand lens, recipe for fake blood, fingerprinting materials and much more. You’ll be equipped to be a modern-day Sherlock Holmes.

Operation Forensic Science II

Recommended for students entering 8th-10th grade. Ages 13-15
July 19–23, 2021
Available in two sessions: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. PDT

Do you want to be a forensic scientist, a crime scene investigator or a detective? Now’s your chance to hone your investigative skills even further with 20 hours of hands-on, science-based analysis of true historical crimes and modern forensic techniques. 

We’ll bring the laboratory to you, with a full activity kit including a pocket microscope, hand lens, instructions for making fake blood, fingerprinting materials to record and dust, and much more. After this camp, you’ll have an insider perspective on what goes on in forensic laboratories all over the country. Criminals beware.

Summer Camp Family Night

All campers will also be invited to join the program capstone event, Summer Camp Family Night, which takes place on the final day of camp each week on Friday at 5 p.m. PDT. During this activity, campers and their families participate in a camp-exclusive activity and trivia game. Each week, winners of Family Night will be awarded a family-four pack of tickets to visit The Mob Museum.
