CHICAGO MOB EXPERT DR. WAYNE JOHNSON TO GIVE AUTHOR’S TALK AT THE MOB MUSEUM SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 13

Event to Take Place at 1 p.m., Followed by Book Signing

LAS VEGAS (August 2014) – On Saturday, September 13, Dr. Wayne Johnson will present an Author’s Talk at The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement. Johnson will discuss his book “A History of Violence: An Encyclopedia of 1,400 Chicago Mob Murders.” The presentation will take place at 1 p.m. in the Museum’s courtroom and will be followed by a book signing. The event is free with Museum admission.

Johnson, a 25-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department and expert on the Chicago Mob, ended his law enforcement career as supervisor of the Analytical Unit of the Intelligence Section, Organized Crime Division.  He also served as chief investigator for the legendary Chicago Crime Commission monitoring the Chicago Mob and was the first and only superintendent of police/inspector general for Cicero, Ill.

He is a nationally recognized investigative and educational consultant for law enforcement and the security industry. Johnson has lectured extensively on organized crime, homicide investigations, criminal profiling, violence in the workplace and gang crimes. He has been interviewed as an authority for numerous television specials on organized crime including a Biography Channel program on Mob boss Anthony Accardo.

Johnson earned his Doctor of Education degree from Northern Illinois University and Master of Science degree in Criminal-Social Justice from Lewis University in Romeoville, Ill. He serves as an associate professor and program coordinator of law enforcement programs at Harper College in Palatine, Ill.

ABOUT “A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE: AN ENCYCLOPEDIA OF 1,400 CHICAGO MOB MURDERS”

This first edition of Johnson’s book attempts to memorialize every murder at the hand of Chicago’s notorious organized crime factions or individual associated with these organizations. The author consulted newspaper articles, police reports, coroners’ reports and archives. In many instances, cases discussed and remain unsolved. It is Johnson’s hope that readers of the book who have details to add to the information in the book will step forward and that a long-ago “crime of the century” might even be solved as a result.

Johnson’s Author’s Talk is free with the purchase of Museum admission. To purchase Museum tickets, please call (702) 229-2734 or visit https://themobmuseum.org/archives/category/events/.
