Use of Force

Overview

A law enforcement officer’s duty is to protect and serve the public. This requires making choices under dangerous conditions that can dramatically affect people’s lives. How should we judge whether an officer’s use of force was appropriate? Did the officer make the right call? Were policies followed? Could it have been prevented? The complexities of use of force, from techniques to de-escalate volatile situations to the last resort of pulling the trigger, provoke public debate and damage lives on both sides of the badge. These questions and issues are explored in the Stanley W. Ekstrom Foundation Use of Force Exhibition and Training Experience.

This exhibit is sponsored by the Stanley W. Ekstrom Foundation.
