Through its engaging content, The Mob Museum provides a contemporary educational experience for visitors that shares one of the most extraordinary chapters of American history. No other public resource dedicates itself to such a comprehensive and authentic presentation of organized crime and law enforcement.

Available Positions:

Volunteer Courtroom Attendant

Position Overview: Volunteers in this position will provide a welcoming, friendly impression of The Mob Museum by interacting with Museum guests as they learn about our most historic exhibit – the courtroom – site of the Kefauver hearings. At this post, individuals will provide a brief overview of the exhibit and interact with guests prior to and after the experience.

Volunteer Greeter

Position Overview: Volunteers in this position will provide a welcoming first and lasting impression of The Mob Museum, creating a friendly, hospitable environment and overall rewarding experience for Museum visitors. In this role, individuals will be assigned to areas in which they will be personally welcoming and speaking to guests. Regular work locations include, but are not limited to: front entrance, lobby, and Museum floors.

Volunteer Special Event Assistant

Position Overview: Volunteers in this position will help create a memorable overall event experience for Museum guests and event attendees by assisting where needed with event-related guest service needs. Special events include, but are not limited to: special, educational, member, and corporate events.

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Must be able to work at least 4 hours per month
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to work under stringent museum and preservation standards
  • Interest in the history of organized crime and law enforcement and general museum practice
