The Museum’s next Courtroom Conversations: Beating the Odds, An Inside Look at Casino Cheating set for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, will explore the who, the how and the why of cheating and security in the gaming industry. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with a reception including light fare and refreshments. The program will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. in The Mob Museum’s historic courtroom. Book signing to follow the presentation.

Panelists include George Joseph, owner of Worldwide Casino Consulting, an expert on spotting casino cheats and gambling surveillance; James Taylor, Deputy Chief of Special Investigations and Support Services for the Nevada Gaming Control Board who previously supervised the Board’s organized crime squad for more than a decade; and Bill Zender, former Nevada Gaming Control Board agent and casino operator who currently teaches casino management and game protection to gaming companies and law enforcement agencies. Moderating the panel this evening is author, and award-winning newspaper columnist Jack Sheehan.

George Joseph

George Joseph is an authority on gaming protection and cheating and began his gaming career in Las Vegas in 1974 as a dealer and entertainer.  He worked for the owners of the Aladdin Hotel, the owner of the Dunes Hotel and for 10 years was the Corporate Director of Surveillance for the Bally Corporation Casinos answering to the Chairman of the Board.  George served for 10 years on the Board of Directors and Ethics Committees of the Nevada Polygraph Association and holds several gaming and vendor licenses.  He is currently president of Worldwide Casino Consulting, a Nevada based corporation whose core business is casino game protection training for gaming commissions, law enforcement and casino personnel.

Mr. Joseph has been instrumental in uncovering many of the biggest casino scams in the gaming industry and has been a consulting investigator and expert witness in countless other casino cheating prosecutions for over thirty years.  George Joseph regularly appears on National Television specials which feature casino cheating.

James Taylor

James Taylor is the Deputy Chief of Special Investigations and Support Services for the Nevada State Gaming Control Board. He previously supervised the Board’s organized crime squad for more than a decade where he was responsible for criminal, financial and intelligence investigations of organized crime activity and major casino cheating groups. During his career with the GCB, Taylor has worked on numerous local and federal investigations and task forces involving sophisticated cheating devices, bookmaking, drug trafficking, credit card fraud, money laundering, terrorism and major criminal organizations.

Bill Zender

As former Nevada Gaming Control Agent, casino operator, professional card counter, and present gaming consultant, Bill Zender has been involved in various areas of gaming and hospitality since 1976.  In the past, Bill Zender has instructed courses on game protection, card counting, advantage play, and gaming operations at various colleges and institutions throughout the country.  As a member of JMJ, Inc., Zender was an owner and operator of the Aladdin Hotel/Casino, and has additional operational experience in card room casinos in California and is considered an expert in Asian gaming.  Besides his practical gaming experience, Zender holds a Bachelors degree in Hotel Administration and a Masters in Business.  As a gaming author Zender has penned a number of  non-fiction books on gaming including Pai Gow Without Tears, Card Counting for the Casino Executive, How to Detect Casino Cheating at Blackjack, Advantage Play for the Casino Executive, Casino-ology 1 & 2, and is a monthly contributor to Casino Enterprise Management Magazine.  In 2014, Zender was present the Life Time Achievement award at the WGPC.  Presently Bill Zender is the owner/consultant of Bill Zender and Associates.
