Join former Ghost Shadows gang leader Peter Chin and ex-Fuk Ching gang member turned police detective Mike Moy for an unprecedented look inside New York’s Chinese organized crime world of the 1970s and ’80s. Chin, who rose from immigrant orphan to become one of Chinatown’s most powerful crime bosses, breaks his decades-long silence to share his journey from gang leadership to redemption. Moy details his extraordinary transformation from gang member to decorated NYPD detective, patrolling the very streets he once terrorized. Together, these remarkable stories demonstrate how these two men chose radically different paths to escape their violent pasts.

Peter Chin  

Peter Chin

was born on the outskirts of Hong Kong in 1959 and immigrated to New York City with his mother and sisters in 1967. Changing his name from Chin Chit Chuey to Peter Chin, he became a member of Chinatown's Ghost Shadows gang in the 1970s and '80s, where he rose to the highest ranks of organized crime. His never-before-told story is the subject of In the Ghost Shadows.

Mike Moy  

Mike Moy

spent nine years as a member of the notorious Fuk Ching gang. He turned his life around, joined the NYPD, and spent the next 26 years as an exemplary police officer and detective. Upon retiring, he created the Chinatown Gang Stories YouTube channel to preserve the history of Asian gangs in New York’s Chinatowns. He lives in New York and the Philippines with his family.
