11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Museum retail store: Book Signing with Steven Schofield, Scof on Scof: A Colorful Arrangement of True Crime Stories

Author Notes:

Schofield’s Flowers – owned by Steven Schofield’s dad – was the scene of a Mob assassination. The shop also provided the funeral wreaths for the mobsters killed in the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre in 1929. Author Schofield shares these stories and more in this collection of short stories. Schofield is a former Chicago policeman, writer/producer in Hollywood and advertising executive.

2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Museum retail store: Book Signing with John Binder, Al Capone’s Beer Wars

Author Notes:
Author John Binder has written two well-researched books on organized crime in Chicago: Al Capone’s Beer Wars: A Complete History of Organized Crime in Chicago during Prohibition (Prometheus Books, 2017) and The Chicago Outfit (Arcadia, 2003), as well as a variety of scholarly articles. He has served as an expert documentary consultant, and has given numerous interviews on the subject.

Get a Special Preview of Three All-New Exhibits and Experiences!

Preview our new exhibits and experiences at the Museum:

  • Organized Crime Today Exhibit: The Organized Crime Today exhibit will show you the new face of organized crime – the syndicates, the kingpins, the hapless victims, and law enforcement’s continuing fight to take them all down.
  • Use of Force Training Experience: This is an eye-opening experience that will make you think about what it’s like to be a law-enforcement officer in a use-of-force situation. Related exhibits examine an array of factors that influence law enforcement responses to real or perceived threats, with a particular focus on the use of deadly force.
  • Multi-sensory Crime Lab: In the Mob Museum’s Crime Lab you’ll perform hands-on death investigation, fingerprint analysis, crime scene investigation, firearms examination and more!
