He was raised in the Mafia. Mentored by John Gotti. Partied with rock stars. Then it all came crashing down.

For a limited time, Anthony Ruggiano Jr. — son of notorious Gambino capo Anthony “Fat Andy” Ruggiano — is telling his story live at The Mob Museum.

Growing up in Ozone Park, Queens, NY, Anthony Ruggiano Jr. always knew he was not just any kid. He was Fat Andy’s son, but it wasn’t until he was a young teen that he understood what that meant. Fat Andy was a highly respected caporegime in the Gambino Family when Ruggiano Jr. followed him into the life, where money, violence and prison time were part of the job.

With risk comes reward. During his time with the Gambinos, Ruggiano Jr. became accustomed to the high life, dreaming of becoming made as he partied his way across New York City under John Gotti’s wing, rubbing shoulders with stars like Diana Ross, Keith Richards and Mick Jagger. Eventually, reality kicked in. Hit with multiple convictions, accompanying prison sentences, time away from his kids and a bad drug habit, Ruggiano Jr. realized that this lifestyle had taken a toll. Now decades out of the Mob life, he’ll talk about his journey from a life of crime to one of sobriety and redemption.
