Congratulations to Teacher of the Year

The Michael Landsberry Nevada Teacher of the Year for 2014 is Mob Museum volunteer and consultant Jeff Hinton who teaches history at Northwest Career and Technical Academy. He is also an adjunct instructor at Nevada State College. Hinton often brings his classes to the Museum and has worked with the Museum to help strengthen its school outreach educational programming.

“The Museum is an excellent way for students to make connections to the past. History is essentially a story and everybody loves a story well told. I think The Mob Museum does an excellent job telling the history of organized crime and law enforcement,” Hinton says.

The Museum is proud of its connections with teachers, students and schools such as the upcoming Museum After Hours February 4. This evening is open to Las Vegas students researching projects for National History Day, a year-long academic program focused on historical research for 6th to 12th grade students ending with the signature event in Washington, D.C.

Contact the Museum for more information on tailoring a school trip to fit your students’ needs and interests.
