The Untouchables

1991: Brian De Palma, director; starring Robert De Niro, Kevin Costner, Sean Connery. A lot of action, great acting and snazzy Prohibition-era costume design almost makes you forget that this story of Al Capone and G-man Eliot Ness is almost complete fantasy; it wasn’t the Tommy-gun swinging G-men who brought down Capone and wounded his criminal empire, it was the patient and methodical agents of the Treasury Department.
