Friday, May 11 – Denny Griffin will be signing The Battle for Las Vegas, Surviving The Mob and CULLOTTA from 1:00 – 5:00 pm.
Dennis Griffin retired in 1994, after a 20-year career in investigations and law enforcement in New York state. He and his wife Faith moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, shortly afterward. He wrote his first novel, The Morgue, in 1996. He currently has seven mystery/thrillers published.
Dennis’ debut in non-fiction, Policing Las Vegas – A History of Law Enforcement in Southern Nevada, was released in April 2005. It covers the evolution of law enforcement in Las Vegas and Clark County from the city’s establishment in 1905. His second non-fiction, The Battle for Las Vegas – The Law versus the Mob, tells the story of the Tony Spilotro era in Las Vegas from 1971 thru 1986. It was released in July 2006 and was a Computer Times Editor’s Selection in October 2006. His third non-fiction, released in July 2007, was CULLOTTA, the biography of former Chicago and Las Vegas mobster Frank Cullotta. His latest effort is Surviving The Mob, the biography of former Gambino crime family associate Andrew DiDionato, which hit store shelves in January 2011.
Dennis is co-host of the popular Blog Talk Radio show Crime Wire, and serves as a consultant to the Vegas Mob Tour. He recently opened BEAR Media Consultants, LLC. This new business helps match true crime movie and documentary producers, writers and event coordinators, with potential technical consultants and speakers for their projects or events.
He is an active member of the Henderson Writers Group, Public Safety Writers Association, and Sisters in Crime.
Saturday, May 12 - Wendy Mazaros will be signing her book, Vegas Rag Doll, in our gift shop from 1:00 – 5:00 pm.
A rare Nevada native, Wendy Mazaros spent her early years “playing out in the desert with my brothers, chasing lizards, catching snakes, and digging caves”. At fifteen, she fell into the arms of Ted Binion,heir-apparent of the Binion’s Horseshoe Club family. Binion passed her off to Tom Hanley; a man she would marry, and later learn was a hitman for the mob. Today, Wendy makes her home in the Las Vegas suburbs, and enjoys a wide circle of family and friends
